Blogmas - December 7: What Month Is It?

View from the upstairs back porch.
I don't know about you but this does not look like Christmas to me! It was warm, in the high 70s, with very little breeze in the middle of the day. If I hadn't melted something winter-esque I doubt I would have felt the Christmas spirit.

Okay, that's a lie. I'm surrounded by Christmas. The decorations inside, the electrical music box that belts out Christmas tunes at all waking hours, the way the sun hits everything has a decidedly Winter look to it.
The beginning of my day was pretty bad. While I did play some Diablo 3 with my Dad, I spent quite a bit of time holed up in my room and laying down. I initially went up there because I was exhausted; I was awake early this morning so I could talk to M again. I ended up spending several hours surfing YouTube on my phone before I actually fell asleep. When I woke up I noticed I was in a dangerous zone. I was feeling lethargic and caught myself seriously considering spending the day in bed.
I've found that the best way to combat... well, myself.... is to move. So I got up and moved around. I went out onto the porch and took pictures of my wax to stash for future reviews. I went downstairs and made myself eat even though I wasn't consciously hungry.
Then I decided that since I'm pretty much living here for an indeterminate amount of time, I had better make my room more homey. So I started rearranging stuff. The bed was on the middle of a wall, which made sense for multiple people sleeping in the bed, but I didn't need that. So I moved it into a corner and started working the nightstands and other bits and pieces around the room to open it up more. I opened my drapes which let in the sun and really helped lighten everything up, including my mood.
At one point Dad decided that we would pick up my younger brother from school and go to the grocery store as a family. He expressed interest in my most recent Chicken Alfredo recipe so I made sure to stock up on the ingredients I needed. Besides that we did a general restock of our family's necessities. Since it was too late for me to make chicken alfredo for dinner we picked up food at the grocery store. I picked up sushi... that should tell you I really miss M. I think sushi's fine but I never reach for it on my own. We just walked by it and I got an immense craving for it. The hardest part was figuring out what I would like from their selection. M always picks stuff out for me. I went with old fashioned California rolls in the end, and they were delicious.
Besides that I spent some time watching Halo: The Fall of Reach with Will and Dad. It was pretty cool and helped fill out some more of the lore for me. I do think the title was pretty misleading though. You don't watch the fall of Reach at all. How about Halo: Master Chief's Origins or something like that?
My room still has some cleaning that needs to be done but I think the rearranging part is finished. I'll work on that tomorrow. I'm in the mood to snuggle up in bed and watch soapmaking videos until I fall asleep.
I did make a small order from Dessa's Homespun Scents! I'm looking forward to that. I haven't bought anything new from a wax vendor since my CFTKR haul. I'd forgotten how exciting it is to know a box of aromatic goodness is headed your way! You know, soapmaking aromatic fragrance and essential oils excepted.

Do you have any wax coming to you soon? Are you excited?

  1. Yeah, I don't know how the warm weather folks do it. I suppose, if it's all a person has ever known . . . but since I'm Wisconsin born and raised, I need cold and snow for winter. It's not very Christmas-y here either at the moment. It's been in the 40s for days now, supposed to hit 50 later this week. Bleah.
