Band of Bloggers - Vol. 5/May 2016

You know what they say, April shower and all that jazz! Happy May, and welcome to the Band of Bloggers! We hope this post finds you well, and we hope the first half of your 2016 has been treating you right. Please join us in this month's conversation below, we love hearing feedback from our readers!

I don't know about the rest of you, but where I live, it's warm almost all the time. We barely have a fall season, and it hardly ever rains. I hate the heat, so in essence, I am forced to live with something I don't particularly like!

My Band Of Bloggers question for May is: if you had to choose 1 or 2 scents you absolutely dread and you had to melt and smell them only for the rest of your life, what would they be and why? And also, why do you dislike them in the first place?
After a lot of thought, I have come to the conclusion that my two scents would be coconut and zucchini bread. Both of these scents I heavily dislike on their own. When blended right, however, I don't mind them as much. Coconut is easy for me to melt when it's blended with anything. Zucchini bread isn't something that I can stomach as easily. The blend has to be absolutely perfect for me to like it, and I've only come across one or two ZB blends that I've enjoyed in the three and a half years I've been melting. Coconut I dislike because of a bad experience with coconut rum. Zucchini bread I dislike because it smells like tortilla chips and sweaty dog feet more often than not. Yuck!

  1. zucchini bread almost always reminds me of corn chips and stinky feet ...but, I like it! Sugar and Spice does ZB blends well. Maybe she does a coconut rum ZB ...

    1. Coconut rum ZB.... *puke* LOL
I haven't tried any ZB blends from Sugar and Spice! I may have to try her... you know... if I ever melt through the mountain of wax I accumulated in the past few months. :)

  2. "because of a bad experience with coconut rum." I have the same problem, not in wax, but with gin. ;)

Coconut is always one that's hit or miss for me. If it's tropical or suntanny, I love it, but if it's too bakery, no way. Too buttery? Nope! It's weird how one scent can be so different! Lemon is the same way. Bakery lemon? Nah. Sugar lemon? Ehh. Zesty, citrus rind lemon! YASS! I like your answer! :)

    1. Is it bad that I associate gin with Kitty from That 70's Show? LOL. I feel like anyone who ventures into alcohol has that one drink that they associate with a time they went just a little too overboard. You have to learn your limits somehow, I guess??

Yess!! You totally get me on the coconut! I love the tropical suntanny coconut because of beaches and summertime and swimming and everything fun and awesome about Summer. Bakery/eating type coconut? Nooooope.

    1. RG has some amazing coconut, you say?... Why do you tell me these things when you know I'm not trying to buy?!? LOL

I think coconut is hard to capture as a fragrance, and then some people (like me) are so used to the artificial sun screen type fragrances that the real thing doesn't smell right anymore.
