Haul: Candles From the Keeping Room July 2016

This haul wasn't exactly planned. I happened to be on Facebook when Carol posted that the website was open, and after I consulted my handy blogging group of friends I decided to go ahead and place an order. I am in need of Fall scents, after all.

This order was placed on July 16 and it shipped on July 17. Carol and I had a pleasant exchange after she had some difficulties creating her shipping label for my purchase, and she insisted that I let her know when my package arrived safely.

Let's get to looking at the lovely wax!

Candy Coated Pecans: No scent description available.
Soft glaze, a blast of cinnamon, and the slightly nutty pecans we all know and love. Okay, maybe not all of us, but I don't mind it. :) The cinnamon is strongest on cold sniff. Not for the faint of cinna-hearts. $4.95 for 6.8 oz

Pumpkin Spice: A strong pumpkin blend. Sweet pumpkin mixed with lots of pumpkin spices.
Almost musky in nature. This scent is soft on everything, but not in a bad way. A gentle tease of fall spices (nutmeg and cinnamon, namely), a quiet breeze of pumpkin. I normally associate Fall and Winter scents with in-your-face spice, so to find a scent that is gentle is something I quite enjoy. $4.95 for 6.8 oz

Snowballs: A sexy, spicy blend of peppercorns, nutmeg, and fresh clove; embodied with notes of elderberries, blackberries, plums, and fresh green oakmoss; with magical, effervescent top notes of carbonated fizzy pop and just a hint of cool mint.
Oakmoss is the bed of this blend, with a heavy mix of mint. On top lay peppercorns, a dash of nutmeg, and a healthy dose of fresh clove. Somewhere hidden in between these ingredients are the slightly tart and sweet hints of berries. I feel like I'm walking down the Christmas decoration aisle of any generic store you can think of. Now I yearn to visit home and go shopping with my mom. LOL $4.95 for 6.5 oz

Winter Festival: Evergreen resins amid an infusion of sparkling tart fruit and subtle woodsy clove, add to the hearty middle notes of pine and fir needle. An extremely smooth yet lively conifer fragrance with tart nuances of citrus and sparkling fruit, spiked with a base of musk and green moss.
The scent description pretty much nails this scent. A sweeter, greener version of Snowballs, this blend really amps up those woodsy vibes while maintaining its Winter appeal. $4.95 for 6.0 oz

Juniper Berry & Cedar: Festive and clean. The perfect scent for spa or manly scents. Fruity and woody opening containing sparkling grapefruit, citron, and juniper berries followed by a middle note of wild ivy and finishing with a touch of warm white musk, cedar, and balsam.
Think Bath and Body Works Balsam and Cedar, add in a dash of juniper berry, and you've got this scent. This scent heavily reminds me of the hoards of wax I brought with me to my Sophomore year of college, and I'm yearning for some of the simplicity of that time. Living in a dorm, going to class four days a week (I had Thursdays off), and working between 20 and 30 hours a week for money that went 50% into savings, 50% into whatever items I wanted to buy. Ah, that was the life. Now I have bills and other adult things to take care of. Like healthcare and buying my own contacts. $4.95 for 7.4(!) oz

The Keeping Room: A Ripe Spicy Clove type with top notes of Almond, Pepper and Pimento. Middle notes of Clove and Cinnamon and a sugary sweet spicy vanilla base note
Yet again, the scent description nails this. I couldn't order Fall scents from Candles From the Keeping Room and not get this scent. For those who like cinnamon, but don't want an in-your-face cinnamon, this would be a good scent. It's sweeter and lacks some of the bite other cinnamons do. $4.95 for 6.8 oz

Country Fair Strudel: The aroma of freshly-baked apple streusel. This fragrance begins with top notes of apples, pears, and applesauce. Middle notes include banana leaves and freshly ground cinnamon bark. Base notes include dry notes of vanilla, hazelnut, and almond.
A healthy dose of apples and pears, with just a hint of cinnamon. I think of applesauce with a woody, spicy twist while smelling this. I'm quite pleased with this scent, as I wasn't certain I would enjoy it when reading the scent description. $4.95 for 5.7 oz

That's it for what I ordered. Let's move on to the samples, and Carol outdid herself for this opening!

Sweet Harvest Moon: No scent description available.
I'm not quite sure about this one. It has something chocolate-esque, and it smothers all of the other notes. 1.8 oz

Apple Peach Cobbler: No scent description available.
A pleasant blend of peaches and apples with a hint of cinnamon. I don't always enjoy apple/peach blends, but when I do it's in a Fall/Christmas blend! 1.8 oz

Pumpkin Bear Claw: Sweet bear claw mixed yummy pumpkin. Spicy pumpkin coated in a sweet and sugary glaze.
A sweet and pumpkin bakery scent. The bakery notes hint at being crunchy, but it's light enough that I  think I'll still melt this. 2.2 oz

Blueberry Pumpkin Patch: An autumn blend of fresh, farm picked blueberries and ripe pumpkins.
Blueberry muffins mixed with pumpkins. Simple, yet delicious. 0.8 oz

Harvest Spice: No scent description available.
I smell nutmeg, glove, pumpkin, and other end-of-year type spices. This one might be a bit too spicy for me. 1.0 oz

Caramel Apple Fritters: No scent description available.
I think the heat is getting to me. I can't identify this scent besides sweet, bready, and loaded with butter. There is a hint of what might be apples, but I can't be certain. It smells lovely, though. 1.0 oz

Apple Crumb Cake: Buttermilk pastry dough topped with a spiced apple & currant filling, sprinkled with sweet buttery crumbs and baked to perfection!
Buttery apple cake. I don't know how to describe this any more than the scent description does. What is my job when the scent description nails the scent? LOL There's an additional layer of musky vanilla that I detect, which adds to the delicious factor! 4.0 oz

This entire box of goodies is getting tucked safely away in my Fall/Winter wax drawer while I tackle the rest of Summer. Sigh.

Have you been stocking up on Fall scents? What scents scream Fall/Wintertime to you?

  1. Fall and winter scent hauls are so fun! That first corn on the cob tart is so cute, looks like Indian corn. (Is that what it's called?) Yeah, the freebies are just about the best part of ordering from CFTKR, the excitement of seeing which ones you get. Woot!

  2. What a great order! I am so glad you dove in. I am drooling over your winter scents. I am craving minty pine like no one's business. You know, I have never tried The Keeping Room. That seems like a huge faux pas now. I am crossing my fingers that I can get an order in for her next opening. I need some of these scents. So cool you got 3 ears of corn!!!! I have only gotten one of those from her in the past and that seems crazy with the dozens of orders I have placed. I keep it saved so I can look at it. Carol is super sweet when it comes to customer service. She treats you right. Enjoy your goodies! <3
